ELECTROCUTIONS AND ELECTRIC SHOCK INJURIES

On-the-job injuries may result in electric shock injuries, which if fatal are called "electrocutions." Most electric injuries, however, occur as a result of defective products, like hair dryers, kitchen appliances, or power tools. Any household product that runs on electricity has the capacity to harm you or your loved ones. If this happens, that product's designer, manufacturer, distributor, and seller may be legally responsible for covering damages including medical expenses, lost wages, loss of future earning capacity, as well as pain and suffering.

Other than on-the-job injuries, most fatal electrocutions result from contact with overhead power lines. Electric companies have a duty to protect the public from live wires and power lines. They are not only responsible for the proper installation and maintenance of lines and wires, but to repair them promptly after storms or accidents. If the utility company is negligent in any of these duties, then it is responsible for any resulting electrocution injuries to you or your loved ones.
